7 Day Start A Blog E-Course

How to monetize your blog from the start! (Day 6)

Some of the links below are affiliate links, so we may receive a commission, at no cost to you, if you make a purchase through a link. Check our disclosure for more info.

Making money from your blog from the start is not an impossible task.

The earning potential with a blog is massive! It all depends on your determination and the right tools.

For those of you who missed Day 3’s lesson, I talked about getting your blog with a web host for just $3.95 a month with Bluehost. If you want to make money, you’re going to need to set up a self hosted blog. Learn more about it here..

Here are the ways I have and you can also, make money with your blog:

#1 Display Ads

I think this is probably the most obvious one; almost any blog you visit is going to have some space, big or small, designated for ads.

Display advertising works best when you have a lot of traffic coming to your blog. You are paid revenue ($) per cpm, which is revenue ($) every time 1000 readers view the ad.

It doesn’t need to be complicated. The more website visitors you have, the more money you’ll likely make.

With a display network like mine, Mediavine, you’ll get paid even if your readers aren’t clicking on ads.

#2 Affiliate Links

An affiliate link is a unique link provided to you by a company.

Every time someone either clicks on their link, or purchases something after using your link, you get paid a commission.

Using affiliate links can be very lucrative when done correctly.

I have a post discussing the best affiliate networks to use as a blogging beginners, check it out..

#3 Sponsored Posts

A sponsored post is when a person or company pays you to write about their products. The company may want the blog post written for SEO purposes, so they may provide topic suggestions and ask that specific keywords are used strategically throughout. Alternatively, they may want your loyal readers to hear YOU talk about their product in hopes that your readers will buy their products.

How much you get paid from a sponsored post often depends on how many impressions your blog usually has; the more impressions you have, the more you can charge.

#4 Sell your own products or services

This option is great because when you create your own products and services, you get to keep all the profits, as opposed to only taking a small cut.

You could create an electronic product once and resell the same product to multiple people, or sell a physical product to a customer via dropshipping.

However you sell your own product or service, it’s a great way to start monetizing your blog right away.
