Prolific is for people over 18 living in a supported country (most OECD countries, which includes the UK and US). It pays cash to PayPal and you can cash out from £6 or $6. You join a waitlist for tasks, so there is no guarantee of work every day. UserTesting also has an application process and acceptance is not guaranteed. Treat both as extra cash, not income you can rely on. Never pay to join a survey or task site.

Expect to pitch a lot before the first yes. Platforms like Fiverr and Upwork are crowded, so a specific offer beats a cheap one.

You want a product that sells. You need to make one useful thing and list it.
It does not have to be perfect. It just has to solve one problem for one person.
- Find a problem people already search for.
- Build the smallest useful version.
- List it with three clear images that show what the buyer gets.

It usually takes weeks to a first sale, not days. Etsy also charges fees, for example $0.20 per listing and a 6.5% transaction fee in the US. Treat the first sale as proof the idea works.

Recurring is not the same as passive. A blog needs traffic and upkeep, affiliate commissions are not guaranteed, and most blogs take months before they earn anything meaningful. It works best alongside a faster income stream.

Commissions are not guaranteed and every programme has rules. Amazon Associates accounts are country specific, so a UK account does not cover US shoppers, and TikTok Shop needs 1,000 followers in the US (500 in the UK) before you can become a creator.

Recurring income is not automatically passive. Blogs need traffic and upkeep, affiliate commissions can change, and digital products need ongoing marketing.

You want brand deals. You need a portfolio and a habit of posting.
Brands pay for good content, not big followings.
- Film three short videos of products you already own, in different styles: a review, a demo and an honest first reaction.
- Post on TikTok and Instagram often. I'd aim for up to 3 posts a day while you build your portfolio.
- Pitch brands directly and apply to UGC platforms and agencies. Agree the price and usage rights in a contract before you film.

One UGC guide says beginners often charge about £50 to £150 (roughly $65 to $195) per video, and you do not need a following to start. Pay varies a lot and you will pitch plenty of brands before the first yes. Some UGC platforms take a commission, so read the terms. Posting up to 3 times a day is my advice for building a portfolio, not a rule.

You want fast cash. You need to sell what you no longer use.
I sold my kids' clothes and made £350 in one month.
- Fill a bag with kids' clothes and things you no longer use.
- Take clear photos in daylight and write honest titles with the size and brand.
- Price to sell, post it, and ship within a couple of days.

£350 (about $455) was my best month, not a promise. In the UK, Vinted charges sellers no fee and buyers pay a protection fee (checked Dec 2025). Fees and availability differ by country, so check Vinted in yours before you start.

You want your own sales. You need a store, a product and traffic.
Skip the marketplaces. Sell on a store you own and send people there yourself.
- Pick a niche and a product you are allowed to resell. Read the licence first.
- Set up a free trial store on Stan Store, Beacons or your own website.
- Post on TikTok and Pinterest every day and send people to your store.

You have to put in the work. Check the licence: many resell and PLR products ban selling the file as is, so add your own value or rebrand where it is allowed. Stan Store is $29 a month after a 14 day free trial (no card needed). Beacons has a free plan but takes a 9% fee on sales, and paid plans from $30 a month remove it. Card fees are on top. Ads: as a creator you can boost a video with TikTok Promote from roughly $3 to $5 a day (one guide), which is enough to test what gets clicks. TikTok's full Ads Manager has a higher minimum ($20 per ad group per day), and guides suggest more budget for steady sales. Posting organically on TikTok and Pinterest costs only your time. Prices change, so check each site.
